Quest 164

[Accidental Voice Post]

[The audio begins with a moment of silence, and then, barely audible, a conversation can be heard between two distinct voices. Though they are nearly identical in most respects, one has a dark edge to it, and chants with a singsonging lilt in its tone. The other sounds both weary and frustrated, as though she has been listening to the first voice all day--which, coincidentally, she has.]

Mirror, mirror, on the wall...
Who's the fairest one of all?

Be quiet. I won't listen to you. You're only a curse, whatever you are, and you'll be gone at midnight. I know what you're after, and it's not going to work. I won't.

Come and have a look at me.
Don't you want to set me free~?

No, I don't. I don't know what's brought you here or put you in there, but the last thing I want is to get anywhere near you, much less let you out. And if I didn't like that mirror so much, I would've smashed you long before now, you know.

You wouldn't. You need me.

I most certainly do not.

You're alive because of me.

Be quiet. I don't want to hear it. Just leave me alone.

Daddy is, too. He's alive because of me. Because of what I did for us.

Be. Quiet.

What's the matter? Don't you think our friends will like me as much as you?

Stop it!

Or maybe you think they'll like me better than you...

I said stop! That's enough!

[Silence. And then, a moment later--]

...I'm not listening to you anymore.

[And with a click, the feed ends.]

[OOC: So what is Rosella's darker side? Well, it's herself, essentially--but with a twist. Mirror!sella is the part of Rosella that has the capacity to murder, but without all the rationalizations that normally come with it. She's also got all those traits that Rosella's really not proud of in herself--jealousy, vanity, selfishness, and all that good stuff. So! Normal text is Rosella herself, bold and italics (and possibly an icon, if I get the chance to make one up) is Mirror!sella, but she'll mostly be running commentary in the background.]

Bothersome is an understatement, really.

I'm sorry, please ignore--well, all of that. Regardless of what she may claim, she's not me, and she'll be gone when midnight comes, anyway.

Fortunately I was able to... Cut our meeting short, so to speak.

Oh? Do these sorts of incidences happen often, then?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Breaking the mirror would do it, but I happen to like that mirror quite a bit, and I'd rather not ruin it over something like this.

Well, er, do you mean our reflections annoying us all day, or just the curses in general?

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
A mirror can easily be replaced, and I would have grown ill if I had been forced to remain looking at the pitiful thing in mine.

Both.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
I break enough things during curses on accident, personally; I'll refrain from breaking them on purpose, if I can help it.

I've never seen this one before, no. Something like it, yes, but never--well, this. But the curses in general occur quite frequently, yes.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that makes enough sense.

Do they normally last one day?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
The average ones do, yes. Some will go for two days, and every so often we'll have ones that go for three. Very seldom do any go on for more than that.

Pardon my asking, but...er, are you new here, then?

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. Thank you for your assistance, miss.

Yes, I am.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome, of course, but I suppose I ought to introduce myself while I'm at it. I'm Rosella.

I thought so. You'll be seeing quite a few curses during your stay here, I'm afraid, but fortunately they're not all as tedious as this.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's a pleasure to meet you. I am the Queen of Hearts.

I have no doubt that I can handle them, I was merely curious about a few details.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
The Queen of--

Your Majesty, the pleasure is all mine.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
My, so polite. But there is no need to stand on too much ceremony.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't often I have the honor of addressing a queen, you see. But if you'd prefer, I'll call you however you like.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose not many do. But that is my name, so I have no qualms with you calling me whatever you desire. Within reason, naturally.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Titles don't mean a great deal here, I'm afraid, or I'd use my own more often. But manners are manners, so if you're leaving it up to me, I'll say Your Majesty, just the same.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
It means enough to me, for it gives me my purpose. And what is your title, might I ask?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
And your duty, of course.

It's Princess, Your Majesty. Princess Rosella of Daventry.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
That as well.

Well, then I suppose the proper title for me to use for yourself would be Your Highness.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's really not necessary, though. As I mentioned, I've grown accustomed to going without, and everyone here just calls me Rosella.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Very well, then I shall call you that.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Unless you would prefer something else, hm...?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'd prefer to be let out, but she won't.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Under the circumstances I cannot say I blame her.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. She's been at it all day, I'm afraid, and she hasn't given up yet, no matter how many times I yell.
