Quest 164

[Accidental Voice Post]

[The audio begins with a moment of silence, and then, barely audible, a conversation can be heard between two distinct voices. Though they are nearly identical in most respects, one has a dark edge to it, and chants with a singsonging lilt in its tone. The other sounds both weary and frustrated, as though she has been listening to the first voice all day--which, coincidentally, she has.]

Mirror, mirror, on the wall...
Who's the fairest one of all?

Be quiet. I won't listen to you. You're only a curse, whatever you are, and you'll be gone at midnight. I know what you're after, and it's not going to work. I won't.

Come and have a look at me.
Don't you want to set me free~?

No, I don't. I don't know what's brought you here or put you in there, but the last thing I want is to get anywhere near you, much less let you out. And if I didn't like that mirror so much, I would've smashed you long before now, you know.

You wouldn't. You need me.

I most certainly do not.

You're alive because of me.

Be quiet. I don't want to hear it. Just leave me alone.

Daddy is, too. He's alive because of me. Because of what I did for us.

Be. Quiet.

What's the matter? Don't you think our friends will like me as much as you?

Stop it!

Or maybe you think they'll like me better than you...

I said stop! That's enough!

[Silence. And then, a moment later--]

...I'm not listening to you anymore.

[And with a click, the feed ends.]

[OOC: So what is Rosella's darker side? Well, it's herself, essentially--but with a twist. Mirror!sella is the part of Rosella that has the capacity to murder, but without all the rationalizations that normally come with it. She's also got all those traits that Rosella's really not proud of in herself--jealousy, vanity, selfishness, and all that good stuff. So! Normal text is Rosella herself, bold and italics (and possibly an icon, if I get the chance to make one up) is Mirror!sella, but she'll mostly be running commentary in the background.]

Unless you would prefer something else, hm...?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'd prefer to be let out, but she won't.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Under the circumstances I cannot say I blame her.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. She's been at it all day, I'm afraid, and she hasn't given up yet, no matter how many times I yell.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
From what I have been seeing over the course of the day I believe that such persistence is a common problem.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
And no doubt she's caught some of my stubbornness, along with the rest. Though I don't think I've ever been quite this intolerable myself, personally.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
These reflections- or whatever they may be- do seem to have variations upon our true personalities.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
That is how it seems. But the one thing they all have in common, I think, is that they're all crueler than we are, in their own ways.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. I see...

It really does seem like this place will be more interesting than I had initially thought.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Believe me, interesting is an understatement, Majesty.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, regardless this will be a worthwhile way to pass the time.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so pleased you think so.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Without my kingdom whatever else am I to do?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people try to find their way back themselves. But that's rather a fruitless venture, I'm afraid.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspected as much. And besides, if that stray could not find his way out and someone was strong enough to bring me here, there is admittedly little chance of escape.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The stray cat. The Cheshire Cat.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, him. I've met him before. He's from your land, then?

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He is. I do hope he wasn't a bother to you, I'm afraid he will not listen to me orders.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, not at all. He wasn't nearly as fearsome as I'd expected him to be, honestly.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You expected him to be fearsome? He surely was quite the disappointment, then.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Where I'm from, there are rumors and tales of the Cheshire Cat, and he's always been said to be very dangerous. But of course, things are different all over, and sometimes a name is only a name. So it's not so much a disappointment as it is a...well, a pleasant surprise.

[identity profile] stillthequeen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that so? How amusing, to imagine the one I know actually being dangerous...

Have you met my Alice?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yours? I'm afraid I'm not quite sure which one you mean. I know there are a number of Alices here, and I'm acquainted with a few of them, but some better than others.
