Quest 231

[Accidental Video Post]

[The device opens on a shot of the interior of the Library, with Rosella sitting at a table reading a book in the foreground and a glimpse of tall shelves loaded with books in the background. Her blonde hair is pinned back off her face, as it usually is when she is at work, and there is a stack of books on either side of her on the table itself. On her left--the camera's right--the stack is quite tall, perhaps seven or eight neatly stacked books; on her right, the pile is only one or two books tall.

The one currently in her hands is old and bound in brown leather; the cover is so worn that the title is nearly illegible. But she appears to be thoroughly engrossed in her reading, and as yet hasn't even noticed that her camera has switched on.

She reaches to turn the page, and her finger slides along the edge--]

Ouch!

[--and instantly the scene seems to go into slow motion: the edge of the page slowly, agonizingly slides through the pad of her finger; her blue eyes widen faintly at the abrupt sting; her hand moves instinctively toward her mouth as a small droplet of blood squeezes out from the sudden wound--and the soundtrack kicks in.]

MMMM, WHATCHA SAAAAAAAY?
MMM, THAT YOU ONLY MEANT WELL?
WELL, OF COURSE YOU--

[As she sucks on her cut finger, a look of exasperation crosses Rosella's face, and her eyes narrow slightly as she slides it from her lips and hisses in a severe whisper: ]

Oh, honestly. We're in the Library!

[And, as if properly abashed, the volume of the background music suddenly dials down to a more appropriate tone.]

--DID,
MMMM, WHATCHA SAAAAAAAY?
MMM, THAT IT'S ALL FOR THE BEST?

[Rolling her eyes, Rosella sticks her finger back into her mouth and returns to her book, and the soundtrack continues until the video slowly fades out to black.]

[OOC: Papercuts: they're serious business. And dramatic enough for today's curse, apparently! So naturally I couldn't resist. Action for anyone in the Library, Network for everyone else. Just remember to keep your voice down! :D]

NGL, I seriously lol'd |D

Are you all right, Rosella?

I couldn't resist. :D

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm just fine, yes. It's only a papercut, despite what all this music might have you believe. Ugh.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but papercuts are quite unpleasant, all the same.

action; PLACEHOLDER

[identity profile] habitformed.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Okay, so this is what happens when you're sixteen years old and don't have a fulltime job and have the attention span of a fruitfly. You see your friend get a papercut over the Network and -- since you don't have anything better to do -- hoof your butt over to the Library for one very important reason.

It takes a while for Mouse to get there and then, once there, actually find Rosella. But when he finally does, he's a little winded and flushed but smiling. Cheerfully, he digs around in his pocket and produces what he'd come all this way to deliver:

A Band-aid.
]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's certainly going to make reading difficult, anyway. It's right in the middle of my finger! But it's only a nuisance, really, and certainly not important enough to be worth all this fuss.
wandbreaker: (Edmund - don't laugh don't laugh [laugh])

[personal profile] wandbreaker 2010-11-09 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is not Edmund laughing]

action; <3

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[The look on her face at the sight of Mouse's sudden arrival--quite happy to see him, with a merry smile to match--abruptly shifts into an almost sheepish grin and a quick flush of her cheeks at the offer of the band-aid. She's had a few timely rescues in her life before, but never one quite like this.]

Oh, hello, Mouse! Thank you so very much, really, that's so wonderfully kind of you.

[And she reaches gratefully for the bandage, being careful to avoid brushing against him by mistake.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is not Rosella rolling her eyes.]
wandbreaker: (Edmund - joker)

[personal profile] wandbreaker 2010-11-10 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you don't bite your lip, next.

action; HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAAAAAAAY

[identity profile] habitformed.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ You'd think, by now, Mouse would get the point and simply invest in a very stylish set of gloves or something. But that practicality borders on weird, so when he offers the band-aid to her, it's with his hand once again pulled dutifully into his sleeve to form a make-shift mitten. Then he gives an exaggerated sort of bow -- the kind he'd seen a guy do in a movie once. He's sort of joking but also sort of serious.

She was a princess, after all, and that was the sort of thing Mouse (having been reared on children's books full of pirates and princesses and adventure) got dopishly overeager about.
]

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
You could bandage it, you know.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, now that you've said that, it's almost certain to happen, isn't it?
wandbreaker: (Edmund - explanations)

[personal profile] wandbreaker 2010-11-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
It would be rather foolish if you did.

action; and here I come to...uh...shenanigans

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
[She gives her fingertip one last lick, just to get off the last bit of blood, and then runs her thumbnail between the two halves of paper and begins to open the bandage, separating them almost painstakingly slowly--]

[--and quite dramatically, actually, as her soundtrack cues up again.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'd better, actually. I can already feel it starting to sting, drat it all.

Oh, well. I could use a break from my books anyway, I suppose.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's not as though I'm going to try to!
wandbreaker: (Edmund - I've got you now)

[personal profile] wandbreaker 2010-11-10 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Are you intending on falling on your lower lip?

action; MOUSE'S NEW FAVORITE CURSE.

[identity profile] habitformed.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Mouse watches with mild curiosity which is, of course, suddenly peaked by the sudden drama of it all. His eyes go wide and then he covers his mouse with his hand to keep from laughing out loud. Instead he ends up snorting out of his nose, his shoulders shivering silently with a cause of compressed giggles. ]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course, because that's exactly what I need after going around with a bruise on my face for a week.
wandbreaker: (Edmund - focus on my smirk)

[personal profile] wandbreaker 2010-11-10 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
People are going to start thinking I don't go easy on you in swordfighting lessons.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
And do be practical about it: don't bleed on the books.

action;

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Rosella, for her part, has been doing this for pretty much the entire day now, and she's mostly gotten used to the spontaneous flood of music at the most random times. The slow motion is the most inconvenient part of it all, really, but that's still only tedious, and not really bad, exactly. So she calmly continues opening the bandage with only a slight roll of her eyes, thankful that at least the music is keeping itself down to a reasonable volume this time.

And then suddenly it snaps off, as quickly as it came, and she is able to wrap her finger securely in the bandage. Which feels much better already, actually.]

There. Honestly, what a ridiculous curse.

video;

[identity profile] elegantcontract.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly any loss of blood is taken very seriously here.

( Said with a straight face, though you may notice she's trying hard not to laugh. )

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Especially not these ones! They're so old, I'd hate to ruin them.

You're not cursed today, then? It seems I'm doing rather poorly at following your list of how to avoid embarrassment during a curse, myself. Are you having better luck at it?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
You don't go easy on me, anyway!

[Pause.]

...Do you?
