Quest 059

[Attempted Private//Somewhat Hackable]

Alas, there'll be no lists today;
The curse won't let me have my way
To write things that are not in rhyme.
Still, to not would just waste time,
When every day's precious indeed.
It's hard--if I could just succeed
in tracking down a wand to use
(It's not as though I would abuse
The powers it would grant to me!)
Then I could cast my spell, and see
If magic can help me combat
The evil sorcerer and cat.
But if "No" answers all my pleas,
Then my last hope's the deities.

[/Private]

This post--I'd thought I might forego it
Since I, alas, am no great poet,
And yet, I think, as curses go,
This one is rather fun. And so
despite the curse's strange effects,
I hope it won't be too complex
To write the things I want to say
And do the work set for today.

But first. I'll ask after my friends!
How are you all? And that extends
Especially to those I see
Alas! Rather infrequently.

And let me make a point to say
How lovely it was, yesterday,
To see the garden all abloom!
And now I'm pleased to say, my room
Is filled with flowers, fragrant, sweet;
My thanks, Kurama, for this treat.

To Arthur: I may have a lead
On tracking down that book you need.
I think, perhaps, at this man's store,
You may find what you're looking for.
(At least, you may have greater ease
With his shelves, than the Library's.)

But now, I'll end my turn of phrase,
And set my count at nineteen days.

[OOC: AUGH. All couplets, all the time. And kind of loving it. >>]

It was good of you to come to the garden.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Your garden's beauty is sublime;
I had a simply lovely time,
And can't imagine gladder hours
Than those spent there, among the flowers.

You are always welcome there.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
That's kind of you. I can't say when,
But I'll make sure to go again.

I guess that rhyming's not so hard to do
Mind if I ask what you're counting down to?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think there really is a trick
To rhyming couplets; you must pick
each word with carefullest intent,
To make sure you've said what you meant.

Alas! Your question I'll evade;
You'll have to guess it, I'm afraid.

[identity profile] horrible-phd.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
There are certain things it's been hard to say.

Hmm...are you counting down to your birthday?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Some words may be quite hard to fit,
But if you just keep after it,
I'm sure that you can find a way
To say the things you mean to say.

Your question's answered with a "yes",
But I must know--how did you guess?

[identity profile] horrible-phd.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Recently it was the birthday of Rain,
So birthdays happen to be on my brain
And I don't really think that someone would
Ask people to guess unless it was good.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
The birth of Rain? Rain from the sky?
I find I must inquire why
You'd celebrate a raindrop's fall...
...Unless it's not that "rain" at all.

[identity profile] horrible-phd.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Rain is a person, that is her name.
The wet stuff in the sky isn't the same.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Aha, I see. A friend of yours?
--and not the "rain" that downward pours?
I hope she had a lovely day,
And that mine, too, will be that way.

[identity profile] doujin-dork.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's- Um, well, this curse really isn't bad, at least.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I should say not! It's certainly
Not half as bad as it could be.

[identity profile] doujin-dork.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, right. Are you enjoying it?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. In fact, I'd dare to say
I love these curses of wordplay.

[identity profile] doujin-dork.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
That's good, at least.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Simply lovely.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
That's truly kind of you to say!
This curse oft made me smile today.

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's indeed nice that you're having a good time.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am indeed! But how are you?
I take it that you're not cursed, too?

[identity profile] horrible-protag.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's correct. I remain unaffected today.
