...For all its faults and curses and miseries, the City really is a beautiful place, isn't it?

It's a lovely night for riding, I think.

[OOC: She's heading for the Fountain, specifically; yay, growing nostalgia. Action is fair game if you feel like encountering her!]

I'll be all right, I think. I don't plan on going anywhere treacherous tonight, just up to the fountain.

You're going to look in the fountain?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't thought to look, actually. I was just going to visit it for a bit. Though, now that you mention it, I suppose I might have a look as well...after all, it couldn't hurt, could it?

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
It could, though. Sometimes it lies, right?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard that it's not to be trusted, no. Which is a shame, really, since it'd be nice to have an easy way to look between the worlds. Too nice, really, and likely that's why it lies.

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it better not to know at all, than to know lies?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose it depends on whether or not you're aware that they're lies. Sometimes by hearing a lie and knowing it's a lie, you can indirectly learn the truth.

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but all you'll learn is that someone is a liar.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes that's a very valuable thing to know.

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't. Liars don't always lie.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
No, but you'll know they're capable of it. And as small as that may be, and petty, and seemingly inconsequential...it might be important, someday.

Of course, everyone lies, sooner or later. Sometimes it can't be helped. So maybe it's not so valuable, after all.

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone lies. There's always a time when we know we just can't afford the truth.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think a lie of omission is still a lie?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Even if it's meant to protect someone?

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
A lie is a lie, regardless of motive.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Then perhaps it is better to not know at all. If everyone is a liar, then there's really nothing to be learned from lies, is there?

[identity profile] miss-waldorf.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
But we don't always lie.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
And then, of course, that raises the question of how to tell when someone is lying and when they aren't.
