...Goodness, when I was baking for the party tonight, I wasn't expecting this many visitors. But it seems you're all here again, are you? It's not quite so nice as being able to visit home, of course, but it's always lovely to have visitors. And especially for the holidays!

Really? I'm so happy for you! I visited mine every day when I lived in the forest, it was so nice to be able to keep her resting place spick and span.

Oh, yes, it is! It's lovely and bright, with cool lakes and beautiful forests. Well...it used to be, anyway.

Oh, no, it's more that I'm waiting for him to find me. He rescued me already, that was how I knew.

Well...there was a dragon, and it rather...ravaged the countryside, just before I came here. So I'm afraid the Daventry I like to remember won't be the one waiting for me when I finally get back home.

Oh, oh dear, a dragon? That's terrible!

But, do you know the best thing about beautiful forests, and grass, and flowers?

It's more terrible that I was the one offered as a sacrifice to it. But it's gone now, so all's well that ends well, I suppose.

Climbing trees? That's certainly one of my favorite parts!

No, but that's a very good thing too! But I think the best thing is that they grow. They'll grow back.

...You're right, they will. And it may take a while, it's true, but...but you're right, it'll all come back. And I'll have my brother back, and my parents, and someday it'll all be back the way it ought to be.

That's right. Hope is such a special thing, nobody can truly take it away, even when everything else is gone.

Well, I really do think this is a first for me, Giselle. It isn't often that I meet someone as optimistic as I am.

Oh, I have gloomy days sometimes. I tend to find that a happy whistle or a cheery song blows those grey clouds away!

Or spending time with good friends. That works wonders for me, I've found.

Anytime! My mother had me learn as part of my education. Part of being a proper lady and all that. Was it that way for you, too?

All the time! I learned from my mother, too. When I was very small we would sing the waking up song together, and the song to welcome in the day. Oh and then the noon song, and the afternoon song, right the way through until the song that tucks you into bed at night.
