Quest 191

Well, all this business has made for quite a spectacle on the Network today, hasn't it?

I'm not entirely certain I approve of the idea of people selling themselves--or each other, my goodness--to the highest bidder, but I must admit, it's not the first time I've heard of such a thing. I recall Blair doing much of the same thing last year for a charity event, and so despite the silliness of the...er, donation process, I suppose one might call it, all the money still went to a good cause. I do hope that's what it's all going toward today. Or, at least, that it's due to something more than just simple greed.

And I haven't seen myself featured in any such proclamations today, so that's something to be thankful for, at least. Or rather, I haven't seen myself featured in any of them so far. I do hope it stays that way; I really do think it's all a bit ridiculous, and I shouldn't like to give anyone the wrong impression because of all this silliness.

I will, however, point out that for anyone looking for a nice place to go to spend time with a friend--however that time might have, er, been acquired--the Turnabout Cafe and the Blue Light are both very fine and respectable establishments, and I'd recommend them both to anyone.

My, the City has just been full of commotion recently, hasn't it? All the bidding on the Network today, and yesterday night there was all that--whatever that was in the middle of the night, when the lights went out and all the noise started. I wonder if the City chose to repair itself from that, or if it's still all a mess? Regardless, I do hope that we'll manage to find out what happened and get things all resolved soon.

And Neil, thank you for the lovely walk yesterday. It was nice to see you in such a good mood, and I had a marvelous time. And I haven't forgotten about that story for you; with any luck, I'll have it ready soon.

[OOC: Sneaky princess is on ur Network, watchin' ur biddings! And she's not particularly interested in buying anyone for her own sake, but she's certainly not against dropping into bidding wars for her friends and ratcheting them up a little so they get a more worthy price, or buying someone to save them from a bidder they don't want. Bwahahaha. She's also not up for bid herself, but feel free to make offers anyway, if you want to see her sputter a little.]

I've seen...well, bits of it, I think, but never your gardens. I remember some sort of maze in the hedges once, but other than that, the rest was mostly indoors.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Then you certainly haven't seen the roses or the gardens.

Well, believe me when I say that I've more than a few roses in those gardens and I would happily use them to bid for you.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps next time I'll be lucky enough to see them, if that curse should come around again. We've had it twice now, at least that I can recall; perhaps the third time will be the charm.

And I'm very flattered, thank you.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, perhaps so. I don't like to hope for curses, but if that one is to come around again, perhaps it wouldn't be so wretched.

You're more than welcome, of course.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind having it again, either. It'd be nice, the chance to--to go around to everyone's worlds again. And to Daventry, too.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I really quite agree. Well, if I'm to hope for a curse, I'll hope for that one.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
If you'll hope for that one, then I'll hope for the visitors to come again. I know you don't like that curse very much at all, so perhaps it's better that I do the hoping for it, instead.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I only dislike it because it's so exhausting and because a cluster of young ladies seem to enjoy standing below my window and screaming. I admit, it can be quite exciting, and I do get to speak to people I've not spoken to in some time. But it is rather exhausting. I'll leave you to hope for it.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Exhausting, I'll give you, but I'm a bit surprised you haven't grown accustomed to the screaming of clusters of young ladies by now. You do seem to have a knack for attracting them.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose that is true. But I think it's the way they scream. There's a different sort of motivation behind it.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Really. And what sort of motivation are you looking for from them, might I ask?

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
A little less schoolgirl infatuation, I think.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, I can see how that would get a bit tedious after a while. Though I can't honestly say I've ever been the subject of schoolgirl infatuation, myself. My visitors generally just come by to say hello and remark about the strangest topics, oddly enough.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
The strangest topics? Such as?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I've once had someone come by simply to tell me I'm pretty, which was terribly flattering, but a bit odd. I've had a few recurring visits from two gentlemen who are very nice, albeit a bit...er, crude in their manners of expression. And then another once tried to persuade me into stealing your hat.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
I won't stand for you stealing my hat, you know. Those are rather strange things to start up conversations with.

Although, well, perhaps I'm a bit guilty of the first one.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
People generally don't stand for other people stealing their things, anyway. That's rather half of the point of stealing them at all.

Why, are you really? I hadn't noticed.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I only thought it fair to warn you in case you really were convinced you ought to try for it.

Yes, I know, I'm rather subtle about it, I think.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
If I were that determined, I'd have it by now. I have plenty of potential accomplices living in the Opera House with you, you know.

Oh, yes, terribly so. You're simply masterful at it.

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
You have not. I think Riff would be quite the defender of my hat if it came to it.

Yes, I know I shouldn't brag, but I suppose it is something of a skill of mine.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming I haven't already persuaded him to my side, that is.

Would that skill be subtlety, or the ability to charm pretty girls?

[identity profile] misterblackbird.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I rather doubt you could have him completely on your side. He is mine, after all.

Both, I think.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
My, I haven't made you jealous, have I?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Good, I should hate to do that.

Though I do still think I could get past Riff if I tried.
