Honestly, I’m hardly home for an hour and all of a sudden I’m getting whisked off again. It’d be nice to have a little warning for once, so I could at least pack something...

Really, no time at all? Oh, good, maybe that means they won't even miss me...the last thing I need is another clock ticking down in the back of my mind!

Oh, speaking of clocks, when you're alone you'll hear a ticking noise. That's the countdown of the clock. It, uhh, supposedly counts down to the end of all worlds.

Uhhh, we've got all sorts of interesting people here. Vampires, angels, aliens... and a zoo with lots of interesting creatures. Dinosaurs and unicorns and stuff like that.

Oooh, I'll be avoiding the vampires, I think. My father had a run-in with one of them once, but I don't have a stake or a mallet handy, myself.

Unicorns are interesting, aren't they? Skittish, unless you can win them over. But they're easy to ride, once they know you're friendly!

Most of them aren't too bad. I have a couple friends that are vampires.

Just once. An evil witch wanted me to capture it for her. The poor unicorn--it didn't deserve a life with that old hag.

I did! It was the least I could do, since I was the one that caught it for her in the first place...

Do you just... have to do what people tell you to do?

It was...complicated. The witch had a talisman that belonged to Genesta, and Genesta was going to die if I couldn't get it back. So I had to get close to the witch somehow, and in order to gain her trust, I had to perform three tasks for her. One of them was capturing the unicorn. It's not like I wanted to hand it over!

Okay. They did try to change me but only because I was cursed as a vampire and asked them to change me if I turned into a normal human when the curse was over. But they didn't change me back.

Okay, that makes sense.

You were cursed?! That's terrible! What did you have to do to break it?

It happens all the time here, actually. The deities curse people and it usually lasts 24 hours, midnight to midnight.

I guess you were right about the deities being cruel, then. No one deserves to be cursed, and the way you make it sound, they do it for no good reason.

Well, it happens here a lot. They're not all really bad and you sort of get used to it.

Hey, ummmm, not to sound all creepy or anything but I know how hard it is just arriving here so if you need a place to stay for a bit I've got some room.

Well, an amusement park just appeared the other day, that was nice. And once, everyone was turned into like... genies and sultans and there were flying carpets and stuff. I was a street urchin though. But I was going to be seriously rich once I found that magic lamp.

Heh, no, but most people who come here end up there first.

Heh, you should be careful with magic lamps, though. Not all genies are good!

Oh. Well, I landed in a fountain, but I managed to climb out before I got too soaked. And all the buildings around here look so strange!

Trust me, I wouldn't have had anything to do with it unless I was cursed. Magic like that is just asking for bad news.

Yeah. They're pretty normal for my world but I'm guess not for yours. Do you want me to tell you how to get here or I can come and get you?

Genies are, anyway. But sometimes magic can be really helpful. I mean, I'd have been eaten by a dragon if it wasn't for magic.

I've never seen anything like them. Um...would it be too much trouble for you to come get me? I'm so tired of walking...

If there wasn't magic, would you have been in a situation where you were going to be eaten by a dragon?

Not a problem, I'll be by soon in the Vespa. Wait, no, the Porsche. Yeah, the Porsche.

Well...it depends on how far back you go. If there wasn't magic, there wouldn't be the three magic treasures of Daventry, so they couldn't have gotten stolen, so my father couldn't have rescued them and become king. And without magic, he couldn't have met my mother, so I wouldn't have been born, and so on and so on. But magic didn't have anything to do with the dragon ravaging our kingdom, if that's what you mean.
