Quest 289

[Accidental Voice Post]

--rat it all, I did it again, didn't I. Honestly, every Giving-Thanks--but really, I didn't think we'd end up with this much...

[Mumble mumble.]

...uppose I can always wrap some of it up and give it to the Welcome Center, and just keep some of it for ourselves, and--oh, bother, this was always much easier when I could count on Sam to finish off all the...

[Mumble mumble mumble.]

...umpkin, one whole apple, half of cherry, one and half again of custard. I wonder why the custard didn't go very well? It tasted all right to me...hmm. And then there's half a turkey still, and the cranberry sauce--and I still haven't looked at the ceiling, thank you--and bowls and things of the potatoes and dressing and goodness, all the cookies, and--oh, when did this turn on?

[A pause.]

Er...well, um, since this is already on, I suppose I might as well ask, really: if anyone would like some, er, leftover baked things from Gi--from Thanksgiving, please do let me know, won't you? Because really, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

[OOC: So Rosella likes big Thanksgiving dinners. Rosella also has an unfortunate tendency to bake up a storm when she's stressed out. Put the two together and what do you get? A veritable mountain of leftovers. >> Please take some. Please.

Also, for those interested, my HMD thread is here!]

There is the Welcome Center, and I think I'll likely end up taking some of it over there--for the new arrivals, you know, since it's hard enough ending up here as it is without having to do it on an empty stomach, besides.

Oh, but there's really no need to pay for them! I'm more than happy to share, and really, knowing they're going to someone who won't let them go to waste is repayment enough. Which ones would you like?

[ he blushes and clears his throat delicately before answering ] All of the cookies, and three of the pies then, if that's not too much trouble. [ that might tide Break over until dinner ]

And, please, at least let me help you transport some of the food to the Welcome Center. It's the least I can do for your kindness. Although... if you don't mind my asking, why did you make such a feast?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, let's see, there's chocolate chip and peanut butter and sugar and gingerbread and almond and--I'll put together an assortment of them, shall I? And let's see, there's a pumpkin and an apple and a custard pie, would that be all right as well?

And that's very kind of you! I'd like that very much, really; it is a bit tedious trying to get everything managed, it's true. But it's great fun to have a big party with lots of friends for Thanksgiving every year, in my opinion, and that's why I always make it when it comes around.

[ he actually had meant all the cookies, but... ] Yes, an assortment would be perfect. But... could you add just a few extra of the gingerbread snaps? [ those he would keep for himself. ] The pies will do quite nicely. My friend is not picky.

[ ahem ] I will admit, until coming here, I was unfamiliar with this... Thanksgiving that you mentioned. It's commendable that you would put so much effort for your friends. I hope they appreciated it.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Liam, you can't have all the cookies, that would be silly. Then there would be no cookies for Rosella, and she would have to fight you. :( ] Are those your favorite, the gingerbread? They're mine, too, so that's lucky--I've plenty of extra of those.

I was the same way, really, until my best friend introduced me to it here. We never had that holiday where I'm from, but I thought it seemed so lovely an idea that we just made it a habit of celebrating every year.

[ and a gentleman would never deprive a lady of what she desires. OTL ] Ah... [ blushing ] I do have a particular fondness for those, but don't think of giving me those if they're your favorites! I am quite content with the others.

It does sound interesting. Do you always celebrate it with a feast? [ maybe a nice card would suffice? ]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Besides, it's not like she didn't bake like twenty dozen of them, anyway. PLENTY TO GO AROUND.] Oh, no, it's just fine! There's more than enough to share, and I'll be making more soon anyway, with Christmas on the way--we always have gingerbread at Christmas, and I always let things get a bit out of hand for that, too, so there's plenty to go around, believe me.

We do, yes, but I'm told that's part of the tradition--family and friends all getting together for a great big dinner, with turkey for the main dish and pumpkin pie for dessert. That's rather important, somehow, to have those two.

Christmas? [ yet another strange custom he knows nothing about ] Oh, well, a gaming bird is often the centerpiece of a feast. It seems quite appropriate, for a semi-formal dinner among friends and family.

[ finally, something makes sense! ]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you don't know of Christmas, either? That's one we do have. It's coming up next month, the twenty-fifth of December, and it's much the same as Thanksgiving was, what with the feast and the friends and family together. Except that for Christmas, everyone goes out and cuts down a pine tree and decorates it with ornaments and lights, and exchanges presents with each other for the holiday.

I imagine we'll have another dinner for that, too--and if you'd like an invitation to it, to see what it's like, I'd be more than happy to extend one.

Don't trouble yourself. I'm afraid no good will come of feeding that person.

ack, whoops, read the order wrong, I thought this was directed at Liam!

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, but it's really no trouble at all...

Pffffffft worry not!

[identity profile] a-parting-word.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
If you feed a stray once, it will keep coming back.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's true, but even so, isn't it better to feed the stray anyway? Someone will have to, otherwise he'll go hungry.

[identity profile] a-parting-word.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
A few kilograms won't tell too much.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps so, but that's really not the point.

There's only one person for whom those sweets could be intended, and it's against his own good to indulge him, just because he coos and makes eyes.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...Oh. Er, are they intended for someone who shouldn't have them, then?
