Honestly, I’m hardly home for an hour and all of a sudden I’m getting whisked off again. It’d be nice to have a little warning for once, so I could at least pack something...

Deities? Oh, like King Neptune?

The last time this happened, a fairy named Genesta transported me to her land because she needed my help. Maybe one of those fairies or wizards summoned me here now...

Ummm, not quite. Well, maybe like King Neptune but a little bit more eccentric. And maybe cruel at times.

Well, that may be how you were transported here but I doubt it.

I'm sure some of them are kinder than others.

Yeah, not all of them are bad. But they're not exactly letting us go home, so I don't think they're all that benevolent either.

Because none of us were brought here like that. I mean... that would be awesome if you were because then maybe you could be sent but, but I don't want to you to get your hopes up.

H...How many people have been brought here?

Ummm, I think there's something like half a million people here?

And...nobody's been able to go home?

People go home all the time. Just not because of stuff they did. I mean, I think they go home... they could be going somewhere else.

There has to be a way. There must be. I'll just...have to find it. I have to get back home...

Yeah, I know what you mean. But people have left and come back here and they almost all say that when they get back home no time at all has passed.

I'm not saying you're stuck here forever, just saying you're stuck here until you leave. Ummm... that sounded less obvious in my head...

Really, no time at all? Oh, good, maybe that means they won't even miss me...the last thing I need is another clock ticking down in the back of my mind!

Oh, speaking of clocks, when you're alone you'll hear a ticking noise. That's the countdown of the clock. It, uhh, supposedly counts down to the end of all worlds.

Uhhh, we've got all sorts of interesting people here. Vampires, angels, aliens... and a zoo with lots of interesting creatures. Dinosaurs and unicorns and stuff like that.

Oooh, I'll be avoiding the vampires, I think. My father had a run-in with one of them once, but I don't have a stake or a mallet handy, myself.

Unicorns are interesting, aren't they? Skittish, unless you can win them over. But they're easy to ride, once they know you're friendly!

Most of them aren't too bad. I have a couple friends that are vampires.

...But vampires are evil.

Just once. An evil witch wanted me to capture it for her. The poor unicorn--it didn't deserve a life with that old hag.

Well, most of them aren't nice I'll grant you that.

Nice people are generally good people, and vice versa.

I did! It was the least I could do, since I was the one that caught it for her in the first place...

Do you just... have to do what people tell you to do?

...They haven't tried to drink your blood or change you into a vampire, too?

It was...complicated. The witch had a talisman that belonged to Genesta, and Genesta was going to die if I couldn't get it back. So I had to get close to the witch somehow, and in order to gain her trust, I had to perform three tasks for her. One of them was capturing the unicorn. It's not like I wanted to hand it over!

Okay. They did try to change me but only because I was cursed as a vampire and asked them to change me if I turned into a normal human when the curse was over. But they didn't change me back.

Okay, that makes sense.

You were cursed?! That's terrible! What did you have to do to break it?

It happens all the time here, actually. The deities curse people and it usually lasts 24 hours, midnight to midnight.

I guess you were right about the deities being cruel, then. No one deserves to be cursed, and the way you make it sound, they do it for no good reason.
