So much has changed in a year. Was it foolish, in light of everything else that's happened? What if he's next? What if-- No. No, I won't.

You always did tell me I think too much, didn't you, Sam? Don't worry. I'm not going to this time. And I'm not going to regret it, either.

Snowdrop came out today. It wasn't long enough to say that she's gotten used to me now, I'm afraid, but she did let me pet her a little. Prince is getting along well, too, though I do have to admit that I wasn't particularly concerned for how well he'd be settling in, since he got to bring his whole bowl with him when we moved. Tomorrow we're taking Spartacus out to the barn to be near Valor and Penny's sheep, since I think he's getting rather tired of the Warehouse, and I imagine he'll be more comfortable around some friends of his own, er, breed. And Ellington even came up to wave a bit at me the other day, so it seems he's doing well.

I think...that I'm doing rather well, too.

Do New Year's resolutions still count, I wonder, if you happen to complete them eight months too late?

No, no, I mean--it's one from two years ago. I was supposed to have it done by the end of last year, but I didn't, and it was the only one I missed, until now.

I do have a new set of resolutions from last year, yes, but they weren't quite as important as the one I missed two years ago.

I had ten, you see, and I managed to get nine of them in a year. The last one just took a while longer, but if it still counts, then I have a full set complete.

Well, no, not really. That is--I do, but they don't all live with me. Snowdrop is a cat, and Prince is a fish, and I've been looking after them since...since a friend of mine left. And then Spartacus is a sheep, and he was mostly a friend's, too, but I think I can finally stand to let him go he'd be happier with the other sheep now, so we're taking him out to the barn tomorrow.

And Ellington is a sea monster, so he doesn't stay with me at all. I just check up on him once in a while.

He's doing well, I think! I've been trying to visit him recently, when I can, and I think I saw him wave, even. Though I suppose it might've been a trick of the light, too. But I'd like to think it was a wave.

Aw, so Snowdrop's doing better? Soon she'll love you, I bet... it just takes some time for animals to warm up to new people. Freckles and I have had Ferris' dog for ages and he still isn't totally in love with us.

Yes, I think that's just it. She didn't seem particularly happy to see me, exactly, but she did let me pet her, and it's a start, at least.

I feel a bit silly about it, though, since I'm a whole eight months late on it. I wouldn't have remembered it at all, honestly, except that it was a rather important resolution, and I'm glad to have finally finished it.
