Well, I suppose that might be a lofty set of goals, but there's only six more days until Christmas and it's certainly not going to manage itself! So there's nothing to do but get right to it, after all. And of course, there's no better way to let alone a silly weekend than by keeping busy, either.


[OOC: So, people staying in the Warehouse courtesy of Saya: hi, there! Meet Rosella. She's been a little spotty around the place lately for unrelated reasons (which is also my handy excuse for why she may not have met your characters in person), but she's been popping in to cook and clean every so often, so feel free to have noticed her, recognize her as Saya's sweet blonde princessy roommate, observe that she is the reason why the refrigerator never seems to go empty, etc. ♥]

[ Saya had told him about her, of course, and he's noticed her once in a while, but it's usually been while he's been on painkillers and not in much of a mood for conversation. Now, however... ]

Yes, er, the ones in the zoo? They have a funny way of going together, Christmas and unicorns, so I just thought I'd remind myself to be especially careful if it looked like something with a unicorn might come up again.

Well, yes, among other things. They're not the only things in the zoo, certainly.

Let's see. Last year one, er, got loose right around this time of year, and the year before that one of them jumped off the carousel and attacked a friend of mine, and the year before that there was talk of asking for one for Christmas, but that would've been a rather awful idea because of their, um, nature. So really it just seems as though it's always unicorns around Christmas, somehow.

It was just lucky I've had occasion to be acquainted with you at that age a few times before, really. I had something of an advantage on you, I think, since I already knew all the things you'd like best anyway. ...But I'm glad you had a good time, just the same. I did, too.

If I leave it at the cafe, will someone see to it that it gets to you?

I have to admit, things seem to slip my mind each time I find myself reduced to that age again. It's as though I recall you, but not entirely. So I was glad to meet you again. And I think I'm glad you had that advantage--it did make the weekend distinctly more pleasant.

And at least you didn't think me mad this time. I seem to recall at least one weekend where I had to spend a fair amount of time convincing you I wasn't.

And I think I was cursed, too, you know-- I'm glad. I...I know it sounds so easy to say, but I really am glad for that. I wish it were something I could do more often, really.

...Well, did you know there's a secret passage out of that Opera House of yours?

[Carla's stay at the Warehouse is a very short one, and she will in fact be leaving today, but Saya had told her she could have at the food in the fridge, and that is definitely something she's doing. Her stint amongst the undead has left her with a metabolism that is difficult to please. She hasn't remained so underweight for lack of food.

Carla had actually intended to stay completely out of Rosella's way, but her vulture circles around the kitchen made that a bit difficult. And at the moment, her interest is lured in by the mention of sweets.]

...'Christmas' is not a kind of cookie.

[Rosella, naturally, has remained completely oblivious to the identities of the vast majority of the people Saya's been inviting over, and simply thinks it's positively lovely that Miss Saya has so many friends to come for a stay at the Warehouse. Surely they are all kind and wonderful people, just like Miss Saya is. Surely.]

I beg your pardon? Well, it's not a flavor of cookie, no, but there are some cookies that are traditional around Christmastime, aren't there? So they'd be Christmas cookies, rather than everyday cookies. And the ones I'm making are for Christmas, anyway.

Oh. Well, let's see. The ones I'm making for Christmas are the gingerbread, the sugar, the chocolate-chip, the spice, the almond ones covered in powdered sugar, and the shortbread ones with the bit of jam on top.

And then the ones that aren't for Christmas are more gingerbread, more sugar, more chocolate chip, and I think peanut, if I decide to try my hand at those.

[And clearly, she does take it as serious. But then, Rosella is pretty much always serious about sweet things, particularly baking. It's her flagrant sweet tooth talking.]

Oh, no, I'll send some around to my friends, of course, and there'll be some for everyone in the Warehouse to snack on, and if we have a big dinner for Christmas like we usually do, there'll be some for dessert there as well. And, well, I have rather a habit of eating more than I ought to once I start snacking, so it's always better to have a few [dozen] extra around in case of that, really.

Oh, but I don't mind it, really! The dusting or the cooking. It's really the least I can do, since I haven't been around as much as usual lately.

Oh, that's just old habit, though! From when I first came to stay, and I said I'd cook and clean in exchange. I know I don't really have to, but it does keep things neat and tidy, and Miss Saya is always good about keeping her own things neat too, so there really isn't so much to do as one might think. Besides, with so many people staying there now, it's only right to keep things tidy, isn't it? It'd make a poor impression, otherwise.
